Tony's Tavern
About This Spot
Walking into Tony's Tavern feels like stepping into a cozy neighborhood refuge where time slows just enough to catch your breath. Nestled on Main Street in Custer, this bar has the easygoing rhythm of a familiar friend’s living room, punctuated by the gentle clink of pool balls and the soft shuffle of pull tabs occasionally scattered across the floor. The atmosphere is unpretentious and welcoming, a place where locals and visitors alike find space to unwind and share quiet moments or lively conversation.
The pace here is relaxed, the kind of calm that invites both a solo visit to quietly nurse a cold Sierra Nevada Pale Ale or a group gathering to celebrate the small joys of Friday burger night. The genuine warmth comes not just from the bartenders, who know their regulars by name and craft drinks with care, but from the easy camaraderie among the diverse patrons—young and old, longtime die-hard fans and newcomers alike.
Food unfolds as a comforting, no-fuss element of the experience rather than a showpiece. You might find yourself savoring a perfectly fried fish and chips plate shared amid laughter, or digging into a deluxe burger paired with crisp fries and tangy coleslaw that fits the mood of a laid-back evening. The menu's variety, from classic club sandwiches to deep-fried gizzards, reflects this place’s sincere and steady heart, offering something satisfying for anyone craving hearty, honest bar fare.
Beyond the food and drinks, Tony's thrives on those informal human moments—the casual game of darts, the friendly banter at the bar, and the understated spirit of welcome that makes it a genuine local hideaway. It’s the kind of spot where you can let life’s pace drop away for a while, whether you’re here to catch up with old friends or simply enjoy a quiet corner amid the hum of a lived-in, cherished tavern.

Fantastic place. Restaurant is wheelchair friendly (bathrooms are not). Food is amazing, service is friendly, prices are decent and drinks are great! Highly recommended. Bonus: Friday's is $6 dollar burger plus fries/JoJo or coleslaw day and pull tabs that you throw on the floor for a bit of extra added fun!

This is one of my favorite dive bars. Great staff, great bar food, chill people. You go there to get away from life for a tic.

This is my go to bar! Even as someone who is only 22 I enjoy my time here, even my boyfriend does and he's 27. I love all the bartenders!

Quite simply, it's a die bar. And if you don't like die bars, then you won't be happy here, but it's clean, comfortable and you won't be offended by the clientele who come from a little bit of everywhere. Try the mini corndogs. It's for a real treat.

Ever hear of Loretta Lynn? Well this is where she got her start after moving across the country when she was 9. Roadhouse style tavern that's been there forever. But don't sneeze while your driving or you will go right past it and custer for that matter. Local watering hole, lots of bikers and crusty old dudes as far as the eye can see.

The bartenders are friendly. Amanda, Jenna, Rachel, and Sue are all amazing and some of my favorites just to name a few! The food is super yummy, my favorite is the fish & chips on Saturdays & my dad’s favorite are the jalapeño corn dogs (they’re addicting). They have pull-tabs if you’re into them and I think they have a good variety of tanks. This is the only bar in Custer so support local
